Im more of a Dreamer
This body of work is a study and a love letter to the cultural and artistic figures—both fictional and non-fictional—that Luna has embraced throughout his journey toward discovering and empowering his true identity and culture. Moreover, this collection seeks to provoke reflection on the broader societal structures that shape immigrant experiences of assimilation and adaptation in the United States.
Shallow portrayals of immigrants in American media, discriminatory encounters, and the fear of being outcast are among the many conflicts faced by individuals navigating new cultural landscapes; these pressures often lead people to distance themselves from their own identity and culture. This body of work ultimately aims to strengthen identity and originality through art, advocating for the preservation of individualism and cultural empowerment. Through visual exploration, the project strives to inspire viewers to reconsider dominant narratives surrounding immigration, identity, and belonging. Luna shares this work with pride—as an immigrant, a Latino, and, as some would say, a dreamer.
